Conversation with America

Imagine you are going to give a presentation to an audience of 25 people on a subject with which you are very familiar and competent. Before your talk, you are given this profile of your audience.

Out of the 25 people:

• 3 do not speak English proficiently
  
• 4 have intellectual deficiencies that will not allow them to fully comprehend your talk
  
• 2 have extensive backgrounds on the topic, which you intend to just introduce
  
• 4 are going through family or relationship crises
  
• All of your audience is required to attend
  
• All of your audience has already been to several required presentations throughout that day
  

How would this profile make you feel about your presentation? How successful do you think your talk would be? What do you think would happen if you had to address this audience every day for months?

This is the situation faced by many teachers everyday. This was the profile of my seventh period, middle school, science class. Someone tell me. How was I supposed to succeed? How were my students supposed to succeed?
