Democracy in the The United States of America

We are a Democratic Republic.
It's not just words, it defines how we govern ourselves. "We".
It's kind of interesting that our main political parties are named after those concepts.

Because I don't take a teams side, I get called a fence sitter.
By the issues, I know exactly how I feel. No fence sitter here.
The yard I jump into may not be your yard, or the other guys.
I follow my own thoughts and perceptions, not some ideologues.
I have no problem not agreeing with either or both sides. It's their problem.

Those of you that want to shove your pure ideology down my throat, well you have issues.
I don't want to give a hoot if you are left, right, or whatever.
I find that most people are parts of both and then some.

The people who don't follow lockstep ideology are always being attacked by the extreme for questioning and thinking different. It can be so loud, that it gets hard to think. Some of us just give in to our social environments because it's easier.

The ability of both parties to be skillful at using divisiveness is tearing us apart.
They use Race, Religion, Sex, Class, Ethnicity, Nationality, Ideology, etc.
If you aren't a hardcore righty, you must be a socialist, "fill in your most vile words".
If you aren't a hardcore lefty you must be a fascist, "fill in your most vile words".

Personally I don't find honesty, reliability, politeness, or intelligence to be a conservative or liberal trait.
They are not Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, "fill in " traits either.

This is democracy; sometimes, maybe most of the time' we don't agree with the vote.
The extreme right and left think it's OK to order others to do what they want when they don't win the vote.
Are we really ready for democracy?

If we want unity we have to include most of us in our thinking.
Democracy takes a lot of thinking, paying attention and most of us would rather not.
Lots of us would like a King who does my groups bidding.
It sounds like lots of us don't want a Democratic Republic.

Ideologies are tools, Ideologists are fools
Under Republicans, People Exploit People
Under Democrats, It's just the opposite, People Exploit People
Libertarians aren't much different.

If we are getting "Libtards", "Conservatwits", and "Liberdumberers" pissed off, we are probably on course. ;-)
